One of my favourite feelings in the world is when the weather starts to change. You can sense it in the air, taste it on your tongue. Blue skies for miles—you know that Spring has finally sprung.
There’s excitement behind your smile when the season rhymes with spontaneity, and serendipitous are the days. I’m flooded with flashbacks of hot summer nights and even longer days. The taste of summer fruits is not far away; I eat blueberries and think of all the good things yet to come my way.

As Winter’s chill suddenly dissipates, the layers we leaned on for so long start to peel off. I look forward to shedding these garments, swapping fluffy jumpers for bare skin. My skin has turned a soft Snow White, almost as if I were the beauty who, too, had been hibernating.
Because I was. With now bare arms and bare legs, I turn my face toward the window, feeling the sun shine through my car, shining almost directly to my core. I get excited as I drive from one side of town to the other, wondering who and what I’ll meet on the other side—the other side of Summer.
They say you’re sadder in the colder months. I simply say I’m happier when the clouds are gone, when the fabrics are lighter, and the colours brighter. My spring wardrobe transitions well; I wore a floral dress just the other day to signify this special change. I’ve had this dress for a decade. My summer wardrobe is even bolder; the dresses sit patiently in my wardrobe, waiting for their season. Colours as if they were plucked right off the rainbow. I’m excited to put them on again.
I can’t help but align my emotions to the sun’s position in the sky. The seasonal shifts have an incredible effect on us—from the fruits we eat to the clothes we wear, to the moods we find ourselves in. Are you one to deny? What’s your favourite season, and why?
