Hello kind reader,
First of all, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to get to know better professionally. I am a strong believer that each individual has a wealth of knowledge within us, and all it takes is a little bit of time and the right questions for a deep dive into these worlds of insight.
I was always passionate about creative writing. At a young age when asked what I wanted to be, “author” was the one word that stuck out to me. In high school, I collected Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar magazines, cut out the pages of editorial shoots and created a stunning visual backdrop to cover my bedroom walls. Though I studied Textiles in my final years, I couldn’t sew to save my life. I decided to pursue journalism at university so I could become a fashion writer.
As we grow older and wiser, our interests change, develop and take flight in unforeseen directions. It was at the University of Technology, Sydney, while studying a double degree in International Studies, that I began delving into social media, online activism, and human rights. With roots in Latin America, my innate passion for culture and cities grew wings, prompting a deeper exploration into the plight of women across the globe.
This investigative journey had me seek out women from all walks of life to discuss the female body as a form of protest, and the translation of online to offline activism. This is a field of research I am passionate about to this day, yet post-Pandemic I have found myself fully immersed once more in the world of fashion.
For several years, I’ve been working as a fashion stylist and business manager for the Australian fashion brand SHEIKE, here in the Sunshine State of Queensland. My role goes beyond selling clothes; every day I’m invested in creating connections with people, communicating with them, hearing what makes them tick, and styling an outfit that will best empower them for significant life moments.
At SHEIKE Indooroopilly, my team and I work endlessly to create and foster a community that embraces individuals of all ages and backgrounds. From Sondra, the 70-year-old artist, who reguarly fawns with us over the latest bold print, to Jonothan, a remarkably kind soul who comes in to select gifts for his wife, our store resonates with an exceptional community. There are many factors we connect over: namely fashion, colour, functionality, lifestyle and what’s coming up next. There’s nothing I love more than asking an individual: “What do you do for work?”. It’s here where we can get to the nitty-gritty. It’s here where we can find out the wealth of knowledge each of us has, or where we’ve decided to dedicate our skillset to.
Allow me a moment to delve into my own skill set, which I view as twofold. Years of academic dedication had me honing my abilities in writing, researching, editing, and interviewing. Simulatenously, my wealth of experience spans business management, leadership, social media management, and content creation. I enjoy finding creative solutions for businesses and will always extend a helping hand where I can: copywriting, transcribing, and beyond. I have worked as a Social Media Manager for start-ups, new businesses, fashion retailers and an occasional football team. Additionally, I am proud to announce that I am the official journalist for the Toowoomba Fashion Festival that takes place on Saturday March 16, 2024 in Toowoomba!
Beyond my professional endeavours, my hobbies encompass photography, attending live music events, exploring irresistable menus, dancing, and curating the perfect outfit for any occasion. I am also an avid poetry writer. When it comes to business collaboration and contribution, my enthusiasm manifests through unwavering brand loyalty and a dedicated commitment to achieving impactful results.
In a nutshell, if anything I’ve shared resonates with you, then I’m excited about the prospect of connecting further and exploring potential opportunities together.
